On Saturday, November 12th, Tri-Kap enjoyed its termly Lock-In, with events that reinforced our tightly-knit and lively brotherhood. Lock-in kicked off with an epic football game between brothers and pledges, which provided some great competition and the brothers ultimately emerging victorious. After the match, the brotherhood feasted on choice dishes from Big Fatty's such as pulled pork, ribs, and corn bread, as well as pizza and fresh cider. While enjoying our spread, brothers hosted a forum for discussion topics regarding both crucial short term and long term issues, that mainly focused on ensuring the protection, stability, and longevity of our home's beloved hallowed halls. Finally, to cap off Lock-In, we staged our usual mock meetings, in which pledges had the chance to experience a small taste of the pleasures and responsibilities that await them upon becoming a brother; the brothers on the other hand, had the rare and nostalgic opportunity to once more experience the bittersweet pleasure that is pledge term. The brotherhood continues to foster our bonds through enjoyable events and experiences such as these, as we both simultaneously uphold our timeless traditions and also look towards the future.

New Member Educators Ben Burke ’12and Paul Wagdalt ’13 brought the new members of the Class of 2014 to RaunerLibrary. While there House Historian Marcel Wolff ’12 spoke to the new membersof the importance of learning House tradition and history. Then they beganlooking through boxes of House historical artifacts that are being stored atRauner. Some of the highlights were a class picture outside of Parker House, apicture of the 1 Webster when it was first built, as well as even some oldTri-Kap T-Shirts. Annual Halloween Haunted House

Some Trick-Or-Treaters enjoy the activities on the First Floor

On October 30^th, we hosted our annual Halloween on Webster Ave. event for children of the Upper Valley. Having raised over $1400 for the event, this allowed us to host one of the most frightening haunted houses in recent history. Partnerships with sororities like Alpha Phi and Delta Delta Delta gave trick-or-treaters the options of face painting, cookie decorating, and bobbing for apples. All in all, the event was a great success, attracting over 100 kids and their families. We would like to thank the following organizations for sponsoring our event: the Office of the President, the Office of Dean of the College, the Greek Leadership Council, and the Interfraternity Council.

New Table!

One of the most cherished traditions in Tri-Kap is the yearly pong table every class builds each Summer, leaving a bit of themselves behind for future classes. The '12s class are no different, although we may have procrastinated just a bit. The '12s class recently installed our Sophomore Summer pong table. While a little tardy, Hector and I recently put the finishing touches on the table, and with the help of Max David '12, George Bahena '12, and Robbie Moss '12, we mounted the table last Saturday.

It's been a hit with brotherhood and Friday lines on A-table are in the double digits. We plan on converting the '09s table, which was formerly on A-table, into a movable table and I expect we will get years of enjoyment from both.

Puppy

As we approach the fall term we would like to welcome a new member to our Brotherhood, our puppy Hamilton. Named after Tri-Kap's very own Ham Chase '47, at 9 weeks old Hamilton is an adorable, energetic young Vizsla with a love for socializing. Having met everyone from students to police officers, Hamilton is sure to be a great addition to our house.
In the past 5 days he has learned how to sit and give his paw, both of which he does enthusiastically for a treat. His favorite spot so far is the green, where he runs around frantically, only to lazily sprawl out 5 minutes later. We have high hopes for Hamilton and know that he will be a fantastic dog.

11X Cabin Trip

As a break from Hanover city life, the '13 Tri-Kaps made the annual trip to the Class of '66 Cabin. It was refreshing to take a break from our basement scene and relax in the peace and quiet of the great outdoors. It was a time for us to reflect on our goals for the remainder of the summer, as well as on our future as a house.

We had a blast. A group of brothers decided to go on a morning hike into the woods, which proved to be a fantastic experience. A creek near the cabin lent itself as the best spot to relax and watch the wildlife in the morning. The highlight of the night was when we circled up as a class and gave each other hilarious nicknames based on our habits and behavior during the past year. All in all it was a great time, and we hope to do it again in the coming years.

This summer, brothers and their guests have had the opportunity to go on numerous adventures and trips with the help of planning from Programming.

On Saturday, July 2nd, Tri-Kap 13’s ventured to the ledges to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the sunshine. Upon inheriting the Sophomore Summer list of things to do, passed down through many Tri-Kap generations, we decided to start off Summer right. It was a treacherous journey down the stream of mini-waterfalls, filled with agile maneuvering (read: flopping into the water), bruises, and good times. A rescue mission was also undertaken to rescue a tire found at the bottom of the stream. Robinson, Jorge, Chris, and Will took it upon themselves to transport the tire up the waterfalls and back to Tri-Kap to use as a tire swing for our front lawn. Every adventure needs a medic of course. With less than 5 steps between Tanay Ganga and the shore, he had a nasty slip, causing a cut that required the assistance of our resident EMS, Nick Valentini.
The journey ended at the Mobil gas station in West Lebanon with everything getting together at the Chinese restaurant like one big happy family.

On Saturday, July 16, Tri-Kap 13’s went on another adventure, this time to Union Village Dam, which is located 20 minutes away from campus in Vermont. Although worried at first that we were lost, we eventually found a great spot on the river near the dam to spend our afternoon at. Brothers and their guests enjoyed jumping off of big rocks into the cool water, sliding down nature-carved chutes, and just enjoying relaxing under some beautiful summer weather.

In addition to planning more events like this term’s Slip ‘N Slide with APhi and Movie and S’mores night with Kappa, we plan to start next term off strong with more Programming adventures to come.

Former Bolivian President Visits Our Hallowed Halls

In the midst of their sophomore summer, the ’13 Tri-Kap Brothers received a special guest into our hallowed halls on Tuesday as the former President and Supreme Court Justice of Bolivia, Eduardo Rodriguez Veltze, came to speak to the brotherhood. President Rodriguez is currently spending summer term at Dartmouth as a Montgomery Fellow and teaching a seminar on "The Rule of Law in Latin America."

During the discussion, President Rodriguez explained his unusual rise to the presidency, the perks and hardships of being the leader of a nation, and his views on economic and political development in Latin America. Needless to say, the brotherhood was extremely honored to host such a distinguished guest and learn from his interesting and insightful talk.

We thank President Rodriguez for his time and wish him a great rest of the term in Hanover.

2011 Reunions!

The 2011 reunions we’re a smashing success! The house was crawling with over 50 younger alums (’06 and prior classes) that came back to our hallowed halls in order to relive the Kappa experience. A handful of older alums, a couple of ’81s and a number of ‘86s, also stopped by to share a story or just say hello. James McKim ’83, Sunil Bhagavath ’03, Matt Brown ’05 and Nannan Hu ’06, were all up as representatives of the Alumni board.

Amidst all the celebration, the brothers came together during an impromptu meetings in order to address the need to improve the physical plant of the house. In particular, our very own Richard Park ’01 organized a reunion pong tournament with the purpose of raising funds for future renovations. The champions were Sung Cho ’01 and Phil Lee ’01 (above). The tourney not only raised over $2000 but also generated great interest among other classes who seek to hold similar events in the near future. I feel confident that the Board and brotherhood in general will stand united as we continue forward with the renovation process.

Hopefully next year's reunions will have the same energy as these had! Until then, I encourage anyone who has an opportunity to make the trip to come out and visit!

Bathroom Improvements

Summer term 11X has begun and the Tri-Kap ‘13s have hit the ground running. House managers Deep Shah and Dan Krawec are pleased to announce the completion of Spring Term’s bathroom renovations of our sinks and countertops. We’ve added new double-door oak cabinets, a white laminate countertop, white sink basins, silver Grohe faucets, and a white shelf.

Not only is this improvement a long-awaited enhancement for brothers, but also a godsend for the many female friends who frequent our hallowed halls. In fact, one visitor reported, "surprisingly, Tri-Kap has one of the cleanest bathrooms of any frat! Have you seen AD's?!"

We’d like to express our gratitude toward Dave from Dave’s Carpentry who organized and completed all of the woodwork for the project, and ARC Mechanical for the plumbing work.

As you may notice, we’ve also tried modernizing our bathroom with a new automatic paper towel dispenser and foam soap dispensers. Take a look at some pictures below:

The end of the Spring is always a bittersweet time for Tri-Kap. Although it marks the conclusion of yet another successful term at Dartmouth, it also means we must bid farewell to our graduating seniors. To commemorate this event, we had our annual spring bequeathal ceremony for the 11s this past week.

The brothers all gathered around as the 2011 seniors bequeathed some of their most valued positions to the younger classes. Each bequeathal had both a special memory attached to it it along with a reason for giving it to the younger brother. The bequeathed items ranged anywhere from an old house shirt to a special house position that brother had acquired. Bequeathals are undoubtedly one of the most important things we do as a house.

Our halls were filled with both laughs and tears as the seniors reminisced about their time as a Tri-Kap brother. The 11s further gave words of wisdom to the younger classes about how to truly appreciate and get the most out of the house. Although they now move beyond our hallowed halls in order to leave their mark on the world, their legacy has forever been established among us. So congratulations to the 2011 Tri-Kap graduating class! We will miss you dearly.

Green Key 2011

Green Key this past year was a weekend to remember. As we started off the week with Sunday Harbor to celebrate, we knew that 1 Webster Ave. would revisit many traditions, as well as make new ones for years to come. On Wednesday we were happy to have many alums visit us for one of the best Meetings this term. We rekindled old friendships, and many of us from the younger classes had the opportunity to meet the older graduates from the '08s and '09s.

The Friday Dance Party as usual was a huge hit. The 'Klub Kappa Kabana' party proved to truly be the "hottest place north of Havana" as we established ourselves as the best scene on campus. DJs Kenny Wang '12 and Michael Barile '13 held it down with some awesome beats and it turned out to be a great night.

The following morning we held corporations in the GOTE Room. Led by Alumni Board President James McKim '83, we discussed our yearly financials, and perhaps most importantly the impending renovations. With input from the rest of the board, including Michael Brasher '10, Matt Brown '05, and Terry Lowd '66 the meeting proved to be very productive. In addition, 23 '13s and 2 12's were officially initiated into the Kappa Kappa Kappa Society as brothers. As one of them, I guarantee that we will do everything in our power to positively contribute and be the best brothers we can be.

All in all Green Key was a great time and I hope that we showed our beloved alumni a fantastic time among our hallowed halls.

Brotherhood Gives Back

On Saturday, May 14^th, brothers donated their time by attending the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, an event that allows communities around the world to commemorate those who have battled cancer. At the Relay, teams camp out overnight and take turns walking a track. Every team needs at least one member walking the track at all times in recognition that cancer never sleeps.

We arrived to the event with a team of 15 members, making us the house with the highest on-site participation of all Greek organizations. Brothers walked several laps with townspeople, fellow Dartmouth students, and cancer survivors to help combat the disease.

Fundraising for this event started last term with the determination of Wei Zhou ’12, who initiated the early involvement and interest in the relay. Because of his contributions, we raised over $800 by the end of winter term. Since then, we managed to raise over $1300 through personal donations and grilled cheese sales. Our efforts placed us first of the fraternities with the most funds raised and second of all Greek houses.

US Ambassador visits our Hallowed Halls

The Honorable Gregory Slayon talks to a captivated Brotherhood

Last Thursday, May 5, the brothers of Kappa Kappa Kappa were honored to host The Honorable Gregory W. Slayton. Professor Slayton currently teaches at Tuck Business School, and previously has worked as a venture capitalist, Silicon Valley CEO, orphanage operator, and U.S. Chief of Mission to Bermuda. Needless to say, everybody was very excited to hear from such an accomplished individual.

During the talk, Professor Slayton discussed a wide variety of topics--anything brothers wanted to know about, from the world of finance to his thoughts on marriage, faith, and raising a family. It was a very special opportunity to hear one of the most prolific men at Dartmouth speak frankly and openly.

Following the discussion was an informal meet-and-greet with Professor Slayton. After Professor Slayton left, brothers continued to hang out and discuss the talk, reflecting the extent to which he got us thinking.

So thank you, Professor Slayton, for a truly memorable discussion. It was a privilege for all of us at 1 Webster.

Tri-Kap Easter Egg Hunt

The House was looking quite festive for the event

On Friday, April 22nd, the brothers of Tri-Kap hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt as a way to give back to its Upper Valley community. From 3-6 pm, kids and families came from their Upper Valley homes to spend their sunny Easter Friday playing games and socializing on the lawn of Tri-Kap. The event provided fun attractions including a bounce house, face painting, egg painting, bracelet making, bowling, a piñata, three-legged races, and last but not least, a large Easter egg hunt with 250 candy-filled eggs and great prizes for over 50 kids.

Kids that came included ones brought by peer mentoring groups such as DREAM and Big Brother Big Sister Kids as well as ones brought by their parents. Although some kids arrived at 1 Webster being a little shy, as soon as they saw all the different activities, food and candy available to them, they immediately could not wait to explore. Kids left the event with a satisfied sweet tooth, Easter egg baskets, toys, and big grins on their faces.

The event was a combined philanthropy and programming initiative that involved a large portion of the brotherhood. Brothers could be seen helping with set up and takedown, running booths, and playing with kids. The event also attracted wide support and involvement from other Greek houses and councils through co-sponsorships, volunteers, and supply donations. Thanks to AZD, Aphi, SD, Tri-Delt, EKT, SAE, IFC, and GLC for their support through co-sponsorships and/or providing volunteers to help run booths. Also thanks to Beta and BG for letting us borrow their picnic tables for the duration of the event.

All in all, the event was a success in bringing together the Greek community to give back to the Upper Valley in a meaningful way, and we hope all the kids and family in attendance had a wonderful time! See you next year!

While most of the brotherhood are enjoying their spring in Hanover, 3 intrepid Kappas have decided to travel farther afield to further their education.

Following in the footsteps of fellow brother Jorge Palaez ’13 during winter term, Dong Zhao ’13 is exploring all that Paris has to offer by participating in the French FSP (Foreign Study Program) trip this spring. During the program, students are expected to improve their French language skills, and learn about French culture, history, and art history by immersing themselves in the city and its sights.

Rumours that Dong has been also taking classes on the "language of love" have not been proven

Closer to Hanover, Nick Valentini '13 is on the Government FSP in Washington D.C. He's interning with the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Office of Policy, coordinating national policy decisions for the administration as well as working with Congressional officals to create and refine laws that will affect NOAA and our jurisdictional operations. Besides his work for the Federal Government, he is also taking 2 upper-level government seminars with Professor Winters as part of the FSP.

I myself, am on the Argentina FSP, in Buenos Aires, the "Paris" of South America. Similar to the course of study in Dong's program, I have been improving my Spanish, while learning about Argentine literature, history, and culture. The people of Buenos Aires are very friendly, and my new amigos are always willing to show me the best place to eat a steak, dance the tango, or have a drink. I have been enjoying the sights of the city, and making sure to spend some time in the beautiful pampas of Argentina.

Here’s some news: Max Yoeli ’12, our Vice President, has won the Student Assembly presidency! His win reflects the great reputation he has built for himself on campus, and is a great honor for the house as well.

Max has already set about pursuing his ambitious agenda as the student body’s new leader. Among his goals are plans to initiate campus-wide votes on important issues, increase student communication with the administration and Trustees, revise the College’s alcohol policy with a focus on student management, and advocate for a safer environment for women. With his previous heavy involvement in campus issues and organizations, we have full confidence that his administration will be a knockout success.

Spring Cleaning

As the seasons change, there have been some improvements around the house. During interim we re-carpeted the 2nd and 3rd floors as well as re-tiled the shower floor. Additionally the '13s thoroughly cleaned the Gote Room over the weekend. We are going to continue our efforts in updating the bathroom over the course of the term and we will blog as we make improvements. Many thanks to Marcel Wolff '12, our previous houseman, for organizing and troubleshooting this project over Spring Break.

Cool Runnings

On a sweltering August day this past summer, four of our brothers took to the byroads and hills of Hanover and the Upper Valley for the 5th Annual CHaD (Children's Hospital at Dartmouth) Hero Half Marathon.

13.1 miles was as nothing before the bull-like stamina of Team Fly-Kap. Having trained for weeks and consumed copious amount of wheat-based products in preparation, brothers Jerry Watchman '11, Conrad Whitaker '11, Jack Wang '11 and Tomi Jun '08, coursed over the granite of New Hampshire like the Spring's first thaw.

Brother Watchman, a former varsity cross country athlete, finished in a cool 1:32:33, 7th in the 20-29 age group. Overall results can be found here.

All told, Team Fly-Kap raised just over $300. This amount was matched by the Positive Tracks Challenge Grant, pushing Tri-Kap's contribution over the $600 mark.

Legendary Tri-Kap Returns to Our Hallowed Halls

The brothers of Tri-Kap had a special treat on August 4th. One of our most famous brothers, Nick Lowery '78, returned to the house for a discussion. Nick Lowery was an All-Pro kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs and is currently a motivational speaker, who travels across the country for numerous philanthropic efforts. Brother Lowery spoke to the house about his time at 1 Webster, his years in the NFL, life lessons he wished to share, and his current interests. The brothers were deeply moved by all Brother Lowery had to offer.

Not only did Nick speak to the brothers, but he also came to meetings that night. He was a great sport, participating a great deal and leading the house song. After meetings, he also showed us how pong was played during his time at Dartmouth. He certainly has not lost his form, playing just as well as he did during his Sophomore Summer when he won the inaugural World Championship of Pong.

The brothers of 1 Webster have truly enjoyed the summer. Brothers have been taking advantage of the great weather; playing IM soccer and softball, taking PE sailing, learning how to golf, and enjoying the Ledges. On Sunday August 8th some of our boys enjoyed a beautiful afternoon, including softball practice, the Ledges, and a barbecue.

Overall, the entire brotherhood, especially the 12s, have bonded, relaxed, and Broed out during 10X. Although there have been a lot of fun and games, the brothers have put a great deal of effort into improving the house. The 12s completed one of the thoroughest attic cleanups in recent history and have upgraded the physical plant. This certainly has been one unforgettable summer.

Last Monday, the House hosted retired Dartmouth professor Jere Daniell, who gave a lecture on the history of the Greek system at Dartmouth.

Over pizza and apple pie, Daniell, an Alpha Theta '55, regaled brothers and pledges with tale of playing pong and "Hums" competitions while providing a comprehensive overview of the trials and triumphs of the Greek system at Dartmouth. According to Daniell, the Greek system is the strongest it has been since the '50s, and he's confident that because of the current administration's positive views of the Greek system and current student's leadership abilities, it will remain to be strong for years to come.

Today we celebrate the work and life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

This day is especially relevant to Tri-Kap historically. Dr. King visited Dartmouth in 1962 and gave a speech entitled "Towards Freedom" in Dartmouth Hall 105. Afterwards, he came to our house for a reception. Tri-Kap was chosen because, as a local fraternity, we had a diverse brotherhood that was not restricted by most national organizations' strict segregation policies.

After the reception at 1 Webster, Dr. King famously stated: "Well, that's the best KKK meeting I've ever been to."

Tri-Kap hosted the Third Annual Webster Avenue Halloween Party for the Upper Valley on October 31st, and it was a great success.

Last week, the brothers of Kappa Kappa Kappa hosted the creators of the recent Pixar release, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Phil Lord ’97 and Chris Miller ’97. After a screening of the movie and discussion with the two alumni, an after-party was held at Tri-Kap.

Interested students and brothers were welcome to enjoy chilled wine, some snacks, and chat with the creators of the U.S.'s box office chart topper for two consecutive weeks.

A Summer of Adventure

It has been quite an eventful summer.

One of the most exciting developments was bringing home the Intramural Soccer Champshionship. Our trophies --- green Dartmouth hats --- will forever be a sign of our impeccable skill, only to be matched by our unparalleled sportsmanship.

This past Saturday evening, seniors and their families were invited to congregate on the lawn of Tri-Kap under a beautiful tent to share stories, memories and delicious food.

Lock-in

First off, apologies must be made for the tardiness of this blog update, which has long been overdue. Our termly Lock-In was this past weekend (or rather, two weekends ago), beginning on a beautiful Saturday morning when the entire brotherhood peregrinated to a lush soccer field about a mile from campus. While certainly some of us were less than ecstatic about the early rising and the interruption of the usual grace period needed to recuperate from the previous night's revelries, the smell of freshly cut grass and New Hampshire's curiously fresh morning air quickly awoken us to eager anticipation of the day's activities. Nature's own coffee and hangover cure. With an ample supply of bottled water and enough sports paraphernalia to make any teenage kid deliriously content for a day, we quickly set up games of kickball, soccer, and capture-the flag.

After a fun-filled day at the soccer fields, we returned to the house and ate our fill of BBQ pork and steak catered by a nearby Big Fatty's. Following the delicious, and might I add, manly, meal, we partook in our long-practiced Lock-In tradition of the Lock-In discussion, where much insightful banter was exchanged regarding the future direction of the house. This was followed by yet another important tradition: the Ryder Cup competition, between the 09's, and the 10's and 11's. After a heated contest, the underclassmen emerged triumphant, and the upperclassmen, though dignified in defeat, rest assured knowing that the legacy of pong excellence will continue.

In other news, it has been six days (and counting) since Tri-Kap has been clean and probation-free. To celebrate this newfound freedom, our social chairs, Cameron Sharman '10 and Michael Abendroth '10 have loaded the upcoming weeks with many events that we are all eagerly anticipating. Kappa Kappa Kappa was lucky enough to have won two awards at this year's annual Order of Omega Awards, held in Collis Commonground. First, our house won the overall award for service, after hosting dozens of philanthropic events, working countless hours on projects, and raising thousands for charity.

Fortunately, the College also recognized the man behind these accomplishments: Tri-Kap '10 Joseph Pena. Mr. Pena has encouraged the house to participate in service events and activities and has personally brought an incredible amount pride to the house, but also (although humble as he is), himself.

We congratulate Joe and ourselves for our awards!

In this spirit, our Annual Easter Egg Hunt, held on Easter Sunday this year, was a huge community success. Hundreds of kids came to look for well-hidden eggs in an extremely well-decorated Collis Commonground, while enjoying pizza, snacks, and collective mirth. After every single egg had been found, children collected prizes and sat down with their families for a viewing of "Dora the Explorer: Egg Hunt."

The event was an unmitigated success, thanks to the tireless efforts of Programming Chairs Jinwoo Baik '11 and Blair Randall '11, as well as Joe Pena '10 and all of the brothers who volunteered to make it such a successful event.

R.I.P. Hobie, Fall '07-Spring '09

Unfortunately, our welcome back to Spring Term was marred by the death of a brother.

Hobart Phillibrick Nash, '09, the house's beloved pet dog, broke through his electric fence on Saturday, April 4th, and, despite exhaustive searches by brothers, could not be found.

On Sunday night, we were informed that he had been hit by a police car on Route 10, east of the golf course, and had died instantaneously.

He was cremated, and we had a burial service on our West lawn to commemorate his passing.

We remember Hobie as a dear friend, a playful, adventurous dog, whom we will miss terribly.

Locked In; Killing Sprees

A headline to match the yellow-ist of journalism! Or perhaps a pithy synopsis of the entire Saw franchise.

And speaking of Saw, one thing we saw this past Friday were the gruesome slayings of various genetically altered supersoldiers and their alien counterparts amidst comically accentuated announcements of "Killing Spree!" and "Double Kill!" in our first annual Halo tournament, organized by Andrew Oppo'11 and Phil chair Joseph Pena '10. And, as per always, the promise of laser gun battles combined with the spirit of competition drew a disporportionate crowd from males, ages 18 to 24, which netted us a tidy sum that we summarily donated to some charity. Sumptious!

In other news, Saturday was Lock-In. A friendly game of basketball--the pledges lost miserably--preceded our termly Lock-In discussion. The brothers talked about everything from the possibility of getting a new dog, to the prevention of theft from happening in the house, to respect for the brotherhood and the gentle reminder of the existence of tribunals. On a more sobering note (albeit one that many of us immediately tried to correct after the discussion), we discussed the plans for renovations and brainstormed ideas for ways we could all individually save money for the house.

Finally, some congratulations are in order for two of our brothers for their election onto the Inter-Fraternity Council. Zachary Gottlieb '10 was elected IFC President, and Joseph Pena '10, was elected IFC Vice President of Service. Two beers!

Winter Carnival Update

Despite the herculean effort by Zachary Zehner '09 and the countless man hours poured in by the brothers of Trikap, this year's Winter Carnival snow sculpture came tumbling down hours before its unveiling. Citing global warming and structural instability as the reasons for the sculpture's premature demise, the snow sculpture planning committee, spearheaded by our own Zach Zehner, valiantly redoubled its efforts--lest the old traditions fail--and created... the mound. Or mounds. Humps? Though its interpretation requires a certain critical laxity, the spirit lived on through everyone in the Dartmouth community who came out to celebrate and support Winter Carnival, structural instability and all.

We had a number of alumni, both young and old, as well as current off-campus undergraduates, visit this weekend. Most notably, Peter Curran '81 and his son Alex played an epic series of pong on Saturday night, unabashedly trouncing a number of worthy opponents and showing the current brothers how it was done back in the day.

And speaking of old (relatively) alumni, a few brothers had lunch with Roger Ulrich '77, current professor in Classics at Dartmouth, at Molly's today. He regaled us with Trikap lore of old, and we shared a mutual, yet uneasy laugh about black balls and 'Ghetti night. For many of us, it was still much too soon.

Paintball, Probation, and Programming

After much prodding by regular blogger Zachary Gottlieb '10, I have heeded the call to arms, taken up the pen--or the keyboard, as the case may be--and revive the humble Trikap blog with a flourish of rhetorical gesticulations, sassy innuendos, and sensibly deployed double entrendres, all in keeping with the stylistic choices of aforementioned blogger. But enough about us! There have been much hustle and bustle among the brotherhood of Kappa Kappa Kappa since the last blog posting that simply must be covered:

On Saturday, the 7th of February, the brothers of Trikap and the ‘09 winter pledges embarked on our annual winter paintballing trip to OSG Paintball in Concord, NH. As you may or may not know, paintballs used in the winter are of a thicker, stiffer sort than the garden-variety paintballs. After many rounds of valiantly waged gun battles between the brothers and the pledges, the embattled combatants found themselves bruised and battered, scarred with splotches of orange and green—but dignities still intact. The OSG guy revealed to us that we were the first fraternity this year to play winter "hard"ball and praised us for our rugged machismo, admittedly, not a compliment that surprised any of us.

Among the top performers of the day were Alex Spinoso '08, whose wild firing-while-somersaulting hit many an unsuspecting pledge; Zachary Zehner '09, whose unnervingly deadly accuracy further confirmed his future as a RAF fighter pilot; Pledge 1 (Waheed Zarif '11), whose uncanny familiarity with the ins-and-outs of urban warfare left many of us slightly perturbed; and Pledge 6 (John Burden ’11), who, through unabashed underhandedness, shot three brothers (including Yours Truly) in a matter of five seconds through a crack in the floorboards, leaving Leonard Lewis ’10 with a sizeable bump on his neck that resembled a grotesque, puckered hickey.

When the brothers and the pledges weren’t busy shooting each other, they rested around a warm and cozy OSG fire pit, warming their frigid toes, cleaning their battle wounds and regaling each other with tales of heroism and glory. It was a day well spent—and a day that will be well remembered, through the welts and bruises left from the paintballs, through the valor and merriment on the field, and through the pictures of various action shots the OSG guy took for us (which I promise to upload later, replete with snarky commentary).

In other news, this past week-and-a-half has seen the brotherhood of Trikap at the dark, abysmal moment of college probation. But—no more! As of today, President Andrew Jean-Louis ’09 announced that Kappa Kappa Kappa is no longer on probation due to “procedural error” and “additional factual evidence,” which is excellent news for our Trikap alumni visiting for this year’s Winter Carnival (which is this weekend, February 13^th). The events leading up to our triumph over Dartmouth’s Organization Adjudication Committee could be seen in an article in today’s D.

Trikap’s brief brush with the law was of course in ample anticipation of today’s Know Your Rights program, featuring attorney at law and Dartmouth Alum George Ostler, who presided over a spellbound audience and informed us of our legal rights if we were to ever tangle with S&S or the Hanover police during our less-than-glamorous moments. There was a big draw from the rest of campus as well as a big turnout from the brotherhood. Between the abundant portions of C&A’s pizza and the hefty legal edification, there was much chewing (over) to be had by all.

I Love Hip Hop in Morocco

On Saturday evening, Tri-Kap, in concert with the Dickey Center, hosted a documentary screening of "I Love Hip Hop In Morocco," a film about a group of Moroccan artists planning a performance in their home town. The documentary detailed the cultural issues surrounding Hip Hop in their local community and more generally, and ended in shots of the actual concert.

Our fall term formal was a great success!

The event started at the house, where brothers and their dates assembled for photo opportunities and some social mingling.

Afterwards, all 108 of us took a half-hour bus ride to the Hartness House, in Springfield VT, whose halls were already decked with myriad holiday decorations.

Dinner was served immediately, and all of the guests jumped on the opportunity to partake of a sumptuous buffet feast.

An Unbroken Lock-In: Also, we're Floored!

Your humble blogger apologizes for the poor titular puns.

Lock-In was held this past weekend, November 8th. We started the day with the brotherhood tackle football game, in which the brothers soundly trumped the pledges, 4-1. Luckily, we had no injuries, except for the wounded pride of our new members.

Afterwards, brothers and pledges alike enjoyed a bounty of grilled BBQ food, and as it grew dark we all assembled in the G.O.T.E. room for our house discussion.

After our constructive discussion about brother-brother communication, our members participated in house meetings, which culminated in general revelry that went into the wee hours of the morning.

On Sunday morning, our new members and winter pledges joined older brothers for a delicious breakfast as Ft. Lou's ("which was on the house," said our visibly upset treasurer). Breakfast was followed by an invigorating hike of Mt. Cardigan, which they scaled with athletic ease.

In other news, the pledge project for the term has been a smashing success. They have stained and coated the living room floor, and it now has a beautiful red oak sheen. The floor looks entirely new, and we applaud our new members' efforts.

In a sadder development, the brothers of Tri-Kap suffered a traumatizing loss in the IM soccer finals to FC Compton, a team entirely comprised of people not actually from Compton, LA. Although we wear the badge of defeat, we continue on the long, arduous journey of life, steeled against gloom, callous to shame, only embracing the warm glow of Kappa camraderie.

Community Building "Spooky," "Scary"

Kappa Kappa Kappa Fraternity, in what will become a perennial community tradition, hosted the 2nd annual Halloween Community Festival on Webster Avenue this past Friday, October 31.

Our programming chairs, Andrew Sloan '09 and Adam Merber '10 worked with Philanthropy Chair Joe Pena '10 to create an event that brought in hundreds of people from Hanover and Dartmouth. This well-coordinated affair involved several different Greek organizations, as well as involvement from Town Hall. Webster Avenue was shut down for the three hour event, and locals and students of all ages were invited to participate in myriad Halloween-related activities.

Beta, which has recently been reinstated at Dartmouth, hosted apple bobbing and a beanbag toss at their exquisitely kept physical plant. Phi Delt invited students to carve up as many pumpkins as they could (several dozen ghoulish pumpkins remain on 7 Webster's porch and balcony), while 99 Rock gave out saccharine goodies for eager Trick-or-Treaters who have a sweet tooth and a penchant for contemporary hard rock.

The best house, by far, however, was our own. 1 Webster brimmed with children of assorted ages, drawn by our many activities. Our front lawn was home to a gigantic inflatable bouncy castle, which gave Hanover mothers an outlet for their hyperactive children's excess energy. Next to the castle, we provided passersby and guests with delicious snowcones, a chilling reception for the ensuing darkness and unrelenting frigidity of the Hanover winter.

A costume contest was held inside our entrance foyer, as guests in all garbs vied for the envied prize of copious amounts of candy.

But all this paled in comparison to our Haunted House, which occupied our basement. A thorough renovation transformed our much loved microcosm of pong into a dark, dank world of unspeakable terror.

Guests entered through our rear door, passing spider webs (some real, some fake) and the skeletal remains of pong paddle handles broken on our back steps. Down into the dark dungeon they went, guided by a pledge in a skeleton mask, towards the unknown recesses of a monster's lair. But alas, a giant spider on a thread of its own making (a pulley system devised by our President Andrew Jean-Louis '09) shocked the arachnophobic with its fatal dance!

Into the middle room our guests crept warily to find a gravestone at the head of a lifeless body--- or so they thought. This fetid corpse (Sean Lee '11) soon came alive and screamed, to the sounds of pledges behind the bar hitting the walls with the concussive power of tortured souls. To the last room our shell-shocked guests crawled, only to see a pledge being murdered by his own brother, while another jumped from underneath A-table to strike fear into the hearts of the huddled masses.

Then we gave them candy by the stairs.

One local Hanover resident called it "spooky," while another called it positively "scary." One girl convulsed in tears; she could not be reached for comment. We considered her grief a necessary externality of a successful haunted house.

All in all, it was a fantastic event, and more evidence of our house's commitment to community service.

In that vein, several brothers joined together on Sunday, November 2, for the "Out of the Darkness" suicide prevention walk, a large event planned by brother Jude Chiy '10. This event was a great success, and his efforts clearly deserve praise and admiration from the brotherhood.

Special Playoff Update Series, Part II of III

In a contentious victory, Tri-Kap defeated the behemoths of Theta Delta Chi in this week's Intramural semifinals, 2-1.

During this very rough, physical game, several proto-fights erupted which were quickly quashed by the less incensed players of both teams. The referee will most likely never be allowed at TDX ever again, although his judgments were fair and balanced.

Tri-Kap scored its first goal on a penalty kick after a slide tackle trip in the box. Theta Delt answered with a penalty kick of its own after a near-goal trip. Tri-Kap ultimately won, though, with a goal independent of penalty shots.

Our founders' contemporaries throw it down

Last night, Tri-Kap invited the entire campus to come see the Dog Day Players, an improvisational comedy group, and Sheba, a hip-hop dance troupe, to perform in our living room. Hundreds showed up to watch.

John Malanga '07's dog managed to sneak onto the Dog Day show (ironically), and managed to double the laughs from the audience.

Our new members surprised everyone with their own dance, to the tune of N*Sync's "I Want You Back," which thrilled everyone present. They have pretty good moves, just like Philbrick, Hobart, and Nash.

Soccer Victory!

Special Playoff Update

Tri-Kap's unstoppable soccer team cruised to victory in a 4-2 ousting of the poorly named "Soccer Team" in the Dartmouth College Intramural Soccer quarterfinals yesterday.

While we did allow two goals, these were most likely a result of our decision to mix up the field with new positions for some of our usual starters, and some new starts for some of our reliable bench warmers.

Our victory was tarnished, however, by unsportsmanlike conduct by the other team. A flagrant handball went ignored by "Soccer Team's" perpetrator, and his team's name will be etched in the Annals of Ignominious Play for all time.

This puts us in a good position to seize the Intramural trophy, as we look forward to taking on more experienced teams in next weekend's semifinals and finals.

Homecoming

After an amazingly crowded dance party on Homecoming Friday, pledges and brothers worked for hours into the early morning to make sure the house sparkled for visiting alumni.

On Saturday, all Tri-Kap alumni were welcomed for a reception at 1 Webster after the homecoming football game.

A house barbeque was accompanied by an outdoor bar, tended by Matthew Brown '05, who taught pledges about excellent mixology and house history. James McKim '83, Board of Trustees Chair, made sure to meet the new brothers and show everyone plans for house renovations.

The event was an unmitigated success, and alumni and new brothers alike were made to feel at home.

Clearly, Kappa Kappa Kappa, with its infusion of new members and supportive alumni, is thriving.

Our brotherhood of more than 80 now looks forward to the future with unprecedented vigor and plans for a new era in Tri-Kap's improved physical plant.

Two weeks of fun!

After blogger messed around with our account information, I was finally able to sign back on and post!

The past two weeks have been chock full of great programming events, and ended with a fantastic Lock-In.

On August 6, 13 brothers took a trip to Montreal to see Radiohead play at Parc Saint-Drapeau. The concert was fantastic, and Tri-Kaps followed it with a night at a dance club on Rue Saint-Laurent. Although it was a short stay, it was well worth the drive and expense.

On the Intramural sports front, Tri-Kap lost in the playoffs of soccer to the poorly named "Soccer Team." This motley crue of unaffiliated students may have one, but we boast a stronger sense of brotherhood.

Tri-Kap also succumbed to a strong Heorot intramural softball team, who beat us 3-2 in the semifinals. Although we didn't win any summer sports, we had very solid teams in every match.

Our Lock-In was held at Nunnemacher Cabin this past Saturday night. Brothers trekked up the mile-long trail up the Skiway to a wooden haven nestled in the wilderness. Over a roaring fire, brothers discusses important house issues and managed to unwind as night set in. They enjoyed campfire hot dogs, smores, and whatever else they could carry up the hill. After some guitar-playing and campfire games, Tri-Kaps hit the hay in the quaint cabin. Luckily, there were mattresses.

An Exciting Week

What a week!

Today, Tri-Kap celebrated its third consecutive victory in intramural softball over SAE (11-5), which puts our team in the semifinals!

Zachary Gottlieb, Andrew Jean-Louis, Jude Chiy, Jon Adelson, Michael Brasher, Daniel Wiebicke, Adam Merber, Eric Larson, Teddy Sinsheimer, and Eric Padegimas made a great team!

At 6 PM, Fieldstock started off with a tug-of-war competition among teams. Tri-Kap's team, "We Are Warriors," made it to the semifinals.

Tonight, the brotherhood welcomed Shebalite, the school's most popular dance group, to perform in the living room. It was a huge success, and the living room has never looked more clean or more crowded.

A large group of brothers are leaving tomorrow for Montreal, where they'll be seeing Radiohead perform in Parc Saint John-Drapeau. It will be our summers most ambitious programming event, and the brothers are looking forward to a fantastic trip.

The parents of '10 brothers were warmly welcomed at our family reception this Friday. Afterwards, some intrepid fathers got a chance to play some pong and embrace what some regard the most important sport at Dartmouth.

As you can see in this picture of Teddy's father, skill is clearly genetic. The same goes for the undefeated Gottlieb team (below).

In other brotherhood news, our softball team had an AMAZING doubleheader yesterday. In the first game, a last-licks rally took the game into extra innings against AXA, who succumbed to the superior offensive momentum of our team. 9-6 Trikap.

This has been another great summer week for the Trikap '10s of 08x.

The brotherhood took a house trip to see "The Dark Knight" at the Hooksett IMAX, which was incredible. Although the theater was over an hour away, the aesthetic brilliance of Christopher Nolan's direction, and the powerful and dark portrayal of the Joker by Heath Ledger made it well worth the journey.

Unfortunately, rain canceled a house trip to the ledges. However, there is no doubt that it will be rescheduled.

This weekend promises to impress the parents of Kappa Kappa Kappa. A reception for parents will be held in our living room on Friday evening, and all brothers are encouraged to come with their families.

Unfortunately, the amazing talent of the Trikap intramural soccer team was quashed by the combined efforts of Chi Heorot's and Alpha Xi's motley crue of misfits. Our brothers played nobly --- however, their offensive efforts fell far short of their defensive ones. Two goals could not match the "Orange Iguanas'" five. We shall persevere, however, in coming matches with a renewed sense of enthusiasm

Thanks to prudent decision making by brothers Andrew Jean-Louis '09, Valentino Wong '10, Justin Tzou ;10 and Christopher Takeuchi '09, we finally have a propane grill for our brothers' use.

This grill is phenomenal; it responds beautifully, cooks evenly and makes house cookouts a breeze. While coal imparts a more smoky and natural flavor to grilled meats, our two smokers tended to be unreliable (and brothers often forget to purchase the necessary coal).

Our wonderful new grill has already been used at inter-house BBQ's with Gamma Delta Chi and Chi Gamma fraternities.

We can thank Mark Heller '10, Christopher Takeuchi '09 and your humble blogger (Zachary Gottlieb '10) for taking the initiative to purchase letters for the front of our house. They look beautiful, and identify us as the first (and most revered) fraternity on Webster Avenue.

Also, the '10 class has made an incredible effort to reorganize and clean the attic. Although we lack pristine photos of this Herculean achievement, it is truly a most impressive feat. Brothers have found myriad items of house history (including old stationery, musical instruments, tons of textbooks and black books), and plan to reap the benefits of this bevy of inherited booty.

Latest Addition to Brotherhood

After bidding adieu to beloved house dog Chase, the brotherhood welcomed a new member in the form of 4 week old Hobart P. Nash (named after the Society's three founders) in the Spring of 2007.

Programming Chairs Ian Tapu & Tim Leung worked in conjunction with Philanthropy Chair Sam Kennedy to outshine all fellow organizations this Easter. The dynamic trio spent weeks planning an Easter Egg Hunt for the entire Upper Valley Community. Collis Commonground was flooded by children, surrounded by hidden eggs, giant basketballs, arts & crafts, cotton candy, and a capella groups. To this day, members of the Dartmouth Community still referenc e this magical event.

Encore, Encore: DREAM BBQ

As if the Easter Egg Hunt had not been a big enough success, shortly thereafter, the Tri-Kap brothers through a follow-up event: the Annual DREAM BBQ. Along with bouncy castles, grilled meat, and DREAM t-shirts, the brothers stepped forward to provide live entertainment and music.

A Formal Affair

One tradition that was not foregone was that of the brotherhood formal. As the term wound down, the brothers of Kappa Kappa Kappa donned their suit jackets and ties, escorted their dates, and basked in the sunset of Lake Morey.

Final Meetings, Final Goodbyes

Spring term means one thing: the sun has set for another great Tri-Kap class. With them, the 07s take their wisdom, their leadership, and their dedication. However, they have left a lasting impression of what it means to be a brother.

Iraqi Kids Project II

As posted previously, the Brothers of Tri-Kap collected over 35 huge boxes of clothes and toys to send to children in Iraq. We just received pictures of the children receiving the packages with the assistance of U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

A Dartmouth Homecoming

This past weekend was Dartmouth's Homecoming Weekend.On Friday night we threw a sick party- the house was packed from wall-to-wall, and the line to get in went all the way out to the street. Our in-house DJ's, Bibhu Mainali '07 and A.J. "Bootz" Chammas '07, kicked it with a guest appearance by the legendary Alex Taylor '04. With a handful of houses on probation, it was up to Tri-Kap to hold it down for frat row on Friday, and hold it down we did.

On Saturday, after a massive house cleanup in the aftermath of the party, we hosted an Alumni Open House Reception from 3-6 PM. Brothers grilled, alumni came by, and the youngest Tri-Kaps had an opportunity to meet with Tri-Kaps of earlier years and their families.

House man Alex Spinoso (lower right above) led the building of the Tri-Kap chariot. Dartmouth organized chariot racing for the first time in 20 years after Hanover and the state of New Hampshire passed legislation to ban tubestock
The team designed and raced the trikap chariot. The metal rod used to pull the chariot snapped after about 10 feet which meant that Psi U fraternity eliminated us from the first heat.

The '08 class held a lockin at the Dartmouth ski hill. Almost all of the brothers that are on campus attended and just about everyone had a great time (exceptions included the New York brothers that are self-proclaimed "not-outdoorsy kinds of people.")

Class of 1956 Reunion

The Tri-Kap Class of 1956 has scheduled a Reunion between 3 pm and 4:30 pm at the house on Friday, June 9. We encourage brothers from that class, as well as brothers from any time in the 1950's to stop by and say hello to a few Brothers and congratulate them on their 50th Reunion.

Ham Chase '47 Retires

At Tri-Kap's Corporation Meetings this year we experienced a veritable "changing of the guard" for our Alumni Board. Three Brothers stepped down after years of service, and three new Brothers took their place. Perhaps most significantly, Ham Chase '47, our Brother Primarius, former Chairman of the Alumni Board, and a Tri-Kap to the core has decided to leave the Alumni Board.

Ham is one of the finest of all Tri-Kap Brothers. During his years of service he has enlightened us with his wit and humor, with his common sense and wisdom, and given back more than we can ever hope to repay. Unfortunately, age has caught up to Ham and he feels that he can no longer give what he used to; the bottom line is that we all still love and respect Ham, and hope that he makes time to visit 1 Webster Avenue whenever he is able. The undergraduates have written him a thank-you letter that we hope to post shortly.

In addition to Ham, two other Brothers have stepped down: Kevin Fleming '93, a former undergraduate House Manager, and David "Lucky" Luchenbach '00. They have distinguished themselves through their years of service, and we thank them both for their dedication to the Brotherhood. Unfortunately, increasing demands from their personal lives will prevent them from continuing to serve on the Tri-Kap Board.

Fortunately, we have very capable and passionate Alumni stepping into the void. Ed Lee '04, a former President of the house, Matthew Brown '05, and Scott Sabol '88 have offered their services and we are excited about the new ideas that will assuredly come from the infusion of new blood to the Society's leadership.

The brotherhood is excited, once again, to celebrate this crazy weekend. We kicked off the festivities tonight with a hip-hop dance performance by SHEBA, which packed our living room with over 200 students. We have a party set for Friday night that should be, per Kappa tradition, the best on campus. And we already have tons of alumni up for the weekend.
We also have our Corporation Meetings on Saturday beginning at noon with drinks. All Alumni far and near are encouraged to attend. The discussion, drinks, and initiation into the Society will start at noon and last until about 3 pm. We have some exciting things to discuss- our house renovation, new members of the Alumni Board, and the many phenomenal things the undergrads have recently accomplished.

New Term Begins!

Spring term has officially begun!

The brothers are all back on campus, and with a new crop of leaders on the undergraduate Executive Board, we are all excited for an awesome term. The guys have already been out playing baseball and basketball this afternoon with our recent spate of good weather, and here's hoping that it stays nice out for a while yet.

To kick things off, we already have a party planned for this Friday night. After all, work hard, play hard is a way of life up here in Hanover.

Our first House meetings of the term are tonight, and we will report back afterwards with any news. There are a number of big projects on our plates this term, and we'll keep you up to date as they get off the ground.

Maureen Dowd recalled her close colleague and friend at a memorial service of 700 on Capitol Hill that included five U.S. Senators in attendence:

"The day we mourned a man whose life was devoted to clarity, this city was hidden in fog. You couldn't see the Potomac, even on its bank...he had an unglamorous, unsanctimonious, unvain sort of goodness. He had a black-and-white sense of honor that was oddly old-fashioned in a capital slimed by lies, bribery, greed, corruption and ends-justify-the-means malarkey."

The fall term ended a few weeks ago, and our Tri-Kap men have dispersed across the globe. Our brotherhood for generations has been considered diverse in every respect- socially, ethnically, geographically. And perhaps it comes across most clearly now, as you could travel to any continent, and any part of the United States, and be sure that a Brother is not far away.

New Executives Chosen

Yesterday the undergraduate brothers elected the President and Vice-President for Tri-Kap for the coming year, as well as an interim House Manager and an interim Programming Chair for winter term.

Harris Chung '07, a former Social Chair, was chosen to be President, and Adam Patinkin '07, a former House Manager, was selected as Vice-President.

In addition, Jason Danker '07 was elected to be the interim House Manager and Tomi Jun '08 was named the interim Programming Chair.

Lock-In Football Game

During this term's house "lock-in", we played a classic game of American-style football: pledges vs. bros.

The pledges took the field prepared for some serious combat....

....A serious Defensive Line if I've ever seen one...

....And the action was fierce....

At the end of the day, the pledges had (unfortunately) taken the contest 9-6 in an upset of epic proportions. Oh well- just wait 'til they play the bros. in basketball...

Trustees Visit Tri-Kap

This past Friday night, many of us were startled from our weekend reverie by the sudden appearance in our basement of three Dartmouth College Trustees- T.J. Rodgers '70 (and his wife), Todd Zywicki '88, and our very own Tri-Kap Peter Robinson '79!

The Trustees hung out in the house for nearly two hours, mingled with the brotherhood, and took the time to talk with us about Dartmouth, its future, and life as a Trustee. If you have been following recent events at the College on the Hill, you might be aware that these three Trustees all won spots on the Board as petition candidates. All three are not only incredibly successful, they are also more than willing to pose the hard questions that in recent times have not been asked by the other more mainstream Trustees.

Already you can see changes afoot- and they are for the better. Suddenly Parkhurst is taking our opinions seriously. Suddenly Administrators are actually listening. And suddenly Trustees are showing up in the basement of 1 Webster Avenue.

You could see it in the resolutions adopted by the Trustees this past weekend. All three major Trustee moves were spurred on by student, not Administrative, activism. What a difference a year makes.

But not everything has changed up here at Dear Old Dartmouth- as Peter joyously told us upon his arrival, "the house hasn't changed one bit!"

To put it simply, we can't wait to welcome him home again.

"Bill and Jean Hallager enjoyed an early 55th wedding anniversary celebration with their entire family at the end of July in Lincoln, New Hampshire."

Tri-Kap Class of '63-

"Head agent Bob Bysshe led '63s to a $295,897 fundraising total, a 13 percent increase over 2004 and 7.5 percent more than the 2005 goal. Bob, who splits his time between New Hampshire and Florida, lunched in Hanover with Josh Faiola '06, a pitcher whose recruitment was funded by our class. Bob and Beth also hosted a reception for football coach Buddy Teevens '79 at Harbour Ridge in Palm City, Florida."

Tri-Kap Class of '94-

"I also heard Greg Park was recognized as a rising star in the world of capital markets in Euroweek magazine's "Celebration of Excellence" issue. After holding a position as head of Asian securitization at Credit Suisse First Boston, Park became the head of securitization, ex-Japan division, at Calyon in July 2004. He currently resides in Admiralty, Hong Kong, with his wife, Carol Lee, who was kind enough to write in with the news."

Tri-Kap Class of 2001-

In answer to the question,of what would surprise his freshman year roommate most about how he is now living, Jeff Kinkaid (see picture) wrote:

"I've spent more money on artwork than dining this year."

Since we are the first "truly Dartmouth Fraternity", over the summer the '07's decided to hang a Dartmouth flag over our front door, where it now proudly waves.

And despite the fact that the Administration has hated on us over the years - from their first attempt to get rid of us in 1849 to attempts made at the end of WWII to the 1978 Epperson fiasco (a faculty vote to end Fraternities approved 77-2), the 1987 Wright Report, and the irrational 1999 Student Life Initiative (SLI) - we are still here and still proud to be Dartmouth through-and-through. Something tells me the adults in this community have more to learn about forgiveness than the students.

Here's to hoping that Peter Robinson '79, the only Tri-Kap on the Dartmouth Board of Trustees, keeps the haters in check.

Tri-Kap '87 in the "D"

Heard in the "D" about James Killmond '87...

"Killmond worked for [Supreme Court Justice nominee Samuel] Alito from 1999 to 2000 while the judge sat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals...

While at Dartmouth, Killmond was an English major and a member of the Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity. He joined the army and went to business school before graduating from Columbia Law School in 1999. Now an associate at Munger, Tolles & Olson in Los Angeles, Killmond says that he recommends the experience of clerking to anyone interested in the study of law."

In protest against the Shams of Aristocracy, the Tri-Kap Fraternity of Dartmouth College began its blog on Wednesday, the 26th of October, 2005, just after 4:00 AM, in a post by the House Manager/House Historian.

Over the coming weeks and months, we will provide an update of the life and times of our fraternity. It is an exciting epoch for us as we embark on many new adventures: dealing with the largest pledge class we have had in a generation, finding a viable solution to updating our physical plant, and sending off the next class of Tri-Kaps into the world as the Best in Dartmouth Brain and Brawn and Spirit.
