August 18th Update

Brothers,

As always, we hope this blog post finds you all in happiness and good health. The past few weeks of this summer have been some of the most amazing of the term, and even better times await until finals period.

Last Saturday, the brotherhood had its termly Lock-In, in which the entire brotherhood spent the day together at the off campus house, engaging in discussion and a variety of activities. With brother Joe Minichiello '17 grilling up burgers and dogs, and some beautiful weather, a great time was had by all.

On Sunday, joined by the Alpha Phi sorority, the brotherhood made its first trip to the copper mines. Again blessed with great weather, everyone enjoyed the thrill of 40 foot cliff jumping.

A week went by and the '17's brotherhood prepared itself for one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer: Masters. By Wednesday, after much deliberation, the brotherhood had decided on its two representative teams: brothers Sam Agler and Josh Lange (A), and brothers Chris Loughlin and Jeff Lang (B). Joined by a huge contingent of '15s and '16s who came up for the weekend, the brotherhood avidly and loudly cheered on our representatives. Though Agler and Lange experienced some bad luck early on, Chris Loughlin and Jeff Lang were able to make it all the way to the finals, and secure the victory for Tri-Kappa. The celebration lasted through the night. The fraternity has now won the tournament two years in a row, thanks to the play of Charles Cai '16 and Danny Katz '16 last summer.

This coming weekend, the brothers look forward to finishing out the summer with a retreat to brother Chris Loughlin's house in Rhode Island. Prior to that, however, many brothers are excited to attend the rehearsal dinner for brother Joe Peña '10's wedding, which will take place at the DOC house. We cannot thank Joe enough for offering to include us in this important event in his life, and offer our infinite congratulations to him for this momentous occasion.

Again, if you are ever in the Hanover area, please do not hesitate to reach out. Wherever our halls may be, any space inhabited by the brothers of Tri-Kappa will always be a home to you.

YiK,
Jeff Lang
Summer VP
